Fanfic! (Sea Change and Journey to the South) [Jan. 3rd, 2013|02:41 pm]
David Weber Fan Community

Took part in Yuletide. Wrote two Safehold fics. orz

Title: Sea Change
Wordcount: 2201
Summary: An alternate take on Paityr Wylsynn's reaction to finding out the truth behind Safehold's history.
A/N: When I say 'alternate' I mean 'alternate'. This is not canon at all. Mostly, I wrote this because, as much as I love the series, having Paityr come down with the decision that he did in canon stretched my suspension of disbelief. (yes yes I know. But still.)

Sea Change

Title: Journey to the South
Wordcount: 1098
Summary: What if there had been a backup personality in case something went wrong with Nimue's? Pei Shan-Wei wakes up under the Mountains of Light.
A/N: Yes, that is a riff off 'Journey to the West,' and the best part is that Shan-Wei counts as both the monk and the monkey :3 (This is one of those bright-eyed-and-bushy-tailed plunnies that I have to ward off with a stick, because it's just so gosh-darn eager, and keeps giving me 'and then' bits of plot. ORZ )

(omg I'm writing Safehold fanfic. What is this I don't even-)

Title: History 101
Author: dogmatix_san
Rating: G
Warnings: Er, none? How'd that happen?
Word count: +- 4600
Summary: Without Staynair to vouch for him, Merlin decides to tell Cayleb anyway.
A/N: I have an entire page of author's note, so I decided to stick it at the end.

So, there's this community, springkink, where people leave prompts, you claim the prompt(s) you like, and post the fic/fanart you created on the specified day. There are some Safehold prompts up for grabs, located in the last ten days of May, if anyone wants to take a look. :)

It's Because I'm Such A Big Honorverse Fan That My First Post Is Like This [Feb. 28th, 2010|12:21 am]

Because of the anthology books in the Honorverse series, I got to know the work of John Ringo. Well, on Facebook now he's asking for people to become Fans of the USA Cheerleaders on the following page:

He's offering Baen Redshirt status to anybody who becomes a fan and posts a Wall message there saying that Ringo sent them!

I promise more involved and thoughtful posts later, but this is such a time-sensitive matter that it had to be put forth at the earliest opportunity. :)

I'm sure you're all aware of this, but I thought I'd mention it in case anybody missed it. The ARC (advanced reader copy) of Mission of Honor is available on the Baen Webscriptions site. I was unable to resist temptation.

In Summary:

That's all I can really say without spoilers, honestly.

If it's your first time, you'll need to register. Once you're in, you'll see a list of Newsgroups. They're alphabetical once you get past FAQs, Admin, Toni's Table, Publisher's Podium, Jim Minz's Biergarten, and Webscriptions; the two for Weber are BuShips and Honorverse--the planning all seems to be happening in Honorverse.
